About Lauren Smith

Lauren was called to the Bar in 2013 after graduating from Macquarie University with a Bachelor of Arts – Psychology / Bachelor of Laws in 2010. Lauren maintains a busy litigation practice, predominantly practicing in family law. Lauren is developing a practice in common law claims, especially those involving intentional torts and domestic violence. Lauren also has extensive experience in criminal law.

Lauren regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia in Divisions 1 and 2. Lauren frequently appears in the Sydney, Parramatta, Newcastle, Darwin and Melbourne Registries. Lauren accepts briefs in parenting, property and appellate matters. Lauren also accepts briefs to appear on behalf of Independent Children’s Lawyers.

Lauren has a background in psychology and is particularly passionate about advising and appearing in matters involving complex and serious allegations of family violence across both family law and common law jurisdictions.

Lauren has also assisted women living in shelters who have fled family violence on a pro bono basis.
