About Bruce Taylor

Bruce was admitted to the Bar in 2011, practising initially in Darwin before moving to Newcastle, joining Hunter Street Chambers in 2015 and joining Sir James Dowling Chambers in 2025. Bruce practices in family law, commercial litigation including NCAT, OH&S and in disputed Estates.

Prior to being admitted to the Bar, Bruce was a senior litigator in at Minter Ellison, and worked as a solicitor with PriceWaterhouseCoopers Legal. He subsequently set up a boutique employment and litigation practice in Sydney with a colleague.

He has appeared as an advocate in various NSW and NT jurisdictions in litigation, employment/OH&S and criminal matters acting for the DPP, Legal Aid and NAAJA. He has also acted as a commercial/legal procurement consultant to the Royal Australian Air Force; was appointed Statutory Manager of the Groote Eylandt Aboriginal Trust; and is a former Northern Territory Law Society councillor.

Bruce is also a nationally accredited mediator and former Fellow of the Governance Institute of Australia. He has also appeared in the Royal Commission into institutional responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Though Bruce has a wide-ranging practice, his primary focus is family law.
