About Emily Beckett
Emily holds a Bachelor of Arts/Laws and Diploma of Legal Practice from the University of Newcastle. Called to the Bar in 2023, she regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
Emily commenced practice as a solicitor in 2015 at a boutique family law firm that focused on Legal Aid and service to the Newcastle and surrounding community. Emily’s commitment to “justice for all” was influenced by her first legal mentor, and she ensures all those who access the legal system with her assistance are treated with respect and dignity.
Since her admission as a solicitor, Emily gained a range of experience prior to being called to the Bar. From 2018, Emily practiced in another small Newcastle firm, where she gained further experience in complex property matters, continuing regular appearances as solicitor and solicitor advocate.
Emily has a particular interest in complex parenting matters, especially those involving competing allegations of unacceptable risk, parental alienation or psychological harm.
Besides her commitment to the law and her own family, Emily is also an accomplished artist and has previously had her work exhibited in the NSW Law Society JustArt exhibition and published in the BarNews. Emily believes her creativity gives her an innovative approach to her practice of the law and formation of case theory.
Emily accepts briefs to appear in the city and regional registries of the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia.
